Brunei International Gateway

Established since 2009, BIG is a member of the consortium for the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) Cable System, as well as the South-East Asia Japan Cable System (SJC). BIG currently provides international telecommunication carriers and digital content providers with wholesale bandwidth through our fibre optic submarine cable systems which offer extended connectivity and network diversity between the commercial centres of South East Asia and Hong Kong, Japan and the United States.

We have a three pronged strategy; Local, Regional and International. The first is to provide Brunei with a world class International voice, data and internet backbone, the second is to develop Brunei as a major regional hub for Borneo and to bring growth to the area: the third is to wholesale capacity on our SJC and AAG cables between Singapore, where we have established a POP and Hong Kong, Japan and beyond.

Our Products


BIG provides circuits (100Mbps and above) between cable landing stations in countries covered by the AAG and SJC cable systems.

Available in Brunei, China, Guam, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, USA West Coast and Vietnam.


Our presence in Singapore, Hong Kong and Brunei enables BIG to serve IPLC requirements (100Mbps and above) between these locations.

Available in Brunei, Hong Kong and Singapore.


Partnering with NTTcom, BIG has established an international IP gateway in Brunei and offers Tier-1 IP transit solution with industry leading SLAs and reliability.

Available only in Brunei.


Starting from 2016, BIG is providing cable station services such as cross-connections between cable systems and networks as well as associated colocation services.

Available only in Tungku CLS and Telisai CLS in Brunei.

Our Structure

Our Company

Brunei International Gateway (BIG) is a joint venture company between the Government of His Majesty The Sultan And Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through its investment vehicle namely Brooketon Sendirian Berhad and two telecommunication providers Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) and DST Group represented by DST International (B) Sdn Bhd to carry on the business of an investment holding and trading company which would enable BIG to participate in the AAG Submarine Cable project operation.

BIG was officially incorporated in Brunei Darussalam on 17 August 2009 to take over the Government of Brunei Darussalam's role in investment and membership in the AAG and future submarine cable systems.
